Subaru Data Reduction Cookbook: Grism Spectroscopic Observations with IRCS
نویسنده
چکیده
1 Foreward This Cookbook presents the typical procedure used to analyze infrared spectra. It is our expectation that a novice at grism spectroscopic observations using Infrared Camera and Spectrograph (IRCS) at Subaru Telescope will be able to produce a final infrared spectrum by him/herself. The focus of this Cookbook is to describe how to analyze low-wavelength resolution infrared spectra having a moderate signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio. The targets of infrared low-resolution spectroscopy, like Subaru IRCS grism spectroscopic observations, are generally faint where the S/N ratio with respect to the continuum may be at most 10–30. On the other hand, high-dispersion spectroscopic observations are often carried out on bright objects, with an aim of achieving very high S/N ratios exceeding e.g., ∼100. Analysis of such high dispersion and high S/N ratio spectra requires a few more procedures where special care is needed in addition to the procedures described in the Cookbook. As for the data handling of such spectra, we comment briefly on such additional procedures. Last but not least, we appreciate any feedback from the readers to help improve this Cookbook.

متن کاملH3 Line Survey Towards the Galactic Center
The H3 in the interstellar medium is a unique probe of physical and chemical environments in dense and diffuse clouds. As the observational study in many lines of sight is becoming matured, we have as many problems newly found. The overabundance of H3 in diffuse clouds is one of them [3, 4]. We undertook the absorption line survey of H3 toward the Galactic center sources to shed light on it [1]...
متن کاملA candidate of a type - 2 QSO at z = 0 . 9 : Large X - ray absorption with a strong broad - H α emission line 1
Deep hard X-ray and near infrared observations of a type-2 radio-quiet QSO candidate at z = 0.9, AX J08494+4454, are reported. The 0.5–10 keV Chandra X-ray Observatory spectrum of AX J08494+4454 is hard, and is explained well with a power-law continuum absorbed by a hydrogen column density of (2.3± 1.1)× 10 cm. The 2–10 keV luminosity of the object is estimated to be 7.2 −2.0× 10 44 erg s, afte...
متن کاملSlitless Grism Spectroscopy with the Hst 1 Advanced Camera for Surveys
The Advanced Camera for Surveys on-boardHST is equipped with a set of one grism and three prisms for low-resolution, slitless spectroscopy in the range 1150 Å to 10500 Å. The G800L grism provides optical spectroscopy between 5500 Å and> 1 μm with a mean dispersion of 39 Å/pix and 24 Å/pix (in the first spectral order) when coupled with the Wide Field and the High Resolution Channels, respective...
متن کاملStellar and Molecular Radii of a Mira Star: First Observations with the Keck Interferometer Grism
Using a new grism at the Keck Interferometer, we obtained spectrally dispersed (R ∼ 230) interferometric measurements of the Mira star R Vir. These data show that the measured radius of the emission varies substantially from 2.0-2.4 μm. Simple models can reproduce these wavelength-dependent variations using extended molecular layers, which absorb stellar radiation and re-emit it at longer wavel...
